Medical Transportation Services
Saving Lives Through Teamwork
In a longstanding collaboration, CHS and Hunter EMS continue to offer medical transportation services for patients in need, serving the entire system.
With CHS-branded ambulances, approximately 20,000 transports are completed annually through this partnership. Advanced and Basic Life Support ambulance services are provided by Hunter’s expert EMS teams, in addition to round-the-clock STAT transfers for patients suffering from stroke, cardiac events and other life-threatening conditions.
Each year, Hunter EMS coordinates medical care for the CHS Suffolk County Marathon and provides EMS standby coverage for events such as CHS’s Healthy Sundays and local athletic and academic programs. As the result of the success of this affiliation, CHS has expanded this dedicated ambulance fleet coverage to include a wider footprint in our region.
Throughout the COVID-19 surge, Hunter EMS safely transferred critically ill patients and continues to assist as CHS Physician Partners offices have reopened. Hunter’s rigorous decontamination program ensures that its ambulances and crews are prepared for each patient, offering a safe and clean environment during transport.
Paramedic-level ambulance service is available for CHS patients at home, care facilities or physician offices needing urgent access to a CHS hospital emergency department. Hunter’s 24/7 Care in Motion Transfer Center is equipped with state-of-the-art software to facilitate single-call communication with CHS providers requesting medical transportation.
“We are excited to grow our partnership with Hunter to better meet the needs of our patients throughout all of our service areas,” commented CHS’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Dennis Verzi.
An ambulance can be called for at any time by dialing 516-719-HELP or 631-719-HELP.
